my whole life,
just staggering

between
sheer determination
to survive

and
boneless,
utter
collapse

flopping,
paper-backed

waiting

to get better at this

wilfully
ignorant

(a mindset
to survive)

slowly

growing a spine,
hard-covered

the days don’t get easier

but i will keep
my secrets—

just
cast me

on the
